The Season of Letting Go and Creating

Fall is for creating!
I am constantly seeking inspiration, and as the seasons shift, I find myself drawn to the beauty of what is passing — fallen leaves, ripened fruit, reds and deep auburns, oranges and earthy browns. These are the tones of harvest and gathering, the awe of abundance now giving way to release.
Mid-September feels like the perfect moment to pause and harvest the goodness of an art practice. The crispness of the air sharpens my senses — the crunch of leaves underfoot, the warmth of a scarf, the glow of twilight, wild gathering and the awe of spent abundance. All of it becomes material for creativity, waiting to be discovered.
I’ve found inspiration in the silhouettes of bare branches, in the muted tones of misty mornings, and in the bold contrast of vibrant pumpkins against fading grass. It reminds me that art in this season doesn’t need to be grand. A sketch of a fallen leaf, a watercolor wash of dusky skies, or a journal page with pressed petals can capture the essence of autumn.
Fall teaches me that creation can mirror release — letting go of what no longer serves, while honoring fleeting beauty before it fades. This season, I’ll be creating a new body of work in palettes rich and warming:
Golds and ochres (Raw & Burnt Sienna)
Rusts and fiery reds (Transparent Red Oxide & Indian Red)
Wine and burgundy (Alizarin Crimson — one of my favorites)
Earth and grounding tones (Burnt Umber)
🍁 I invite you to feel the season too — to create something of your own or to collect a piece of art that keeps autumn’s beauty close. Don’t let this fleeting season pass you by.
